SLAS Discovery Article – Live Cell Painting: Probing Cell Physiology in High Content Screening - 2023

Explore our publication, a significant collaborative effort demonstrating the power of ChromaLIVE. This study focuses on live cell painting and highlights how our non-toxic dye for live-cell imaging and high content screening overcomes limitations in drug discovery. Traditional approaches often rely on fixed cells, complicating long-term monitoring and missing crucial kinetic information due to the lack of fully biocompatible fluorescent markers.

The dye addresses these challenges by enabling live-cell imaging to probe cell physiology in live cells, allowing kinetic measurements over extended periods for live-cell assay applications. It detects distinct phenotypic fingerprints and quantifies disease-relevant phenotypes like apoptosis, autophagy and ER stress. Its unique properties, such as being non-fluorescent in medium and only fluorescent when incorporated into cellular membranes, eliminate washing steps, making it ideal for automation workflows and robust high-content screening in live cells.

ChromaLive demonstrates high biocompatibility, with minimal impact on cell proliferation, protein and gene expression in cell culture.
